His Majesty Graces the 7th Intake Officer Cadets Sovereign’s Parade

SG AKAR, Thursday 5 July 2012 - His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) consented to officiate the Sovereign’s Parade Ceremony for the 7th Intake Officer Cadets. The ceremony took place at the Parade Square of the RBAF Officer Cadet School (OCS) in Sungai Akar Camp this morning.
The arrival of His Majesty infront of the OCS Headquarters was greeted by Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat and the Commander of RBAF, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.
Shortly after the arrival, His Majesty received the Royal Salute and inspected the Static Guard of Honour mounted by the Sovereign’s Parade 26 Officer Cadets of the 7th Intake and 31 Officer Cadets of the 8th Intake.
Following the inspection, the event proceeded with the slow and fast march past before returning to position. After executing the march past His Majesty consented to deliver the Titah. This was followed by the conferment of the awards to the best officer cadets in every category for of the 7th Intake of the RBAF OCS.
The first award recipient was ‘Sword of Honour Award’ to 19831 Officer Cadet(U) Muhd Izdihar bin Haji Imran. As the most prestigious award given to an Officer Cadet bestowed by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, it signifies the pillar of utmost brilliance for the Officer Cadet participant who fulfills the condition and criteria to qualify for the Award, such as attained apex achievements in the basic military training, academic, physical, and all aspects in the second phase training. The Officer Cadet must also possess strong and exemplary characteristics as an Officer in terms of steadfast leadership as well as demonstrates upbeat personality from the beginning until the end of the Officer Cadet training at the RBAF Officer Cadet School.
Subsequently, for ‘Best in Academic Award’ was presented to 19848 Officer Cadet (L) Muhd Muizz bin Haji Mohd Jaini. This award is given to an Officer Cadet who has successfully attained the top result in the overall academic study that covers essay writing, oral presentations, examinations and broad knowledge in current affairs. The award is based on the progressive overall academic result throughout the training duration.
For ‘Best Military Skills Award’ was presented to 19830 Officer Cadet (L) Mohd Khairul Anuar bin Abdullah. This award is given to an Officer Cadet who has been selected among the best in the most excellent achievement in all Military Skill subjects. Assessment for the award is based on the highest cumulative percentage for all Military Skills subjects.
Finally, for ‘Best in Physical Training Endurance Award’ was presented to 19835 Officer Cadet Hafizan bin Haji Moksin. This award is in recognition of the best achievement for an Officer Cadet in outstanding physical training accomplishment throughout the training period. The most essential criteria are possession of unyielding physical resilience, consistency in performance and demonstrating positive progress over time in all physical training activities.
His Majesty hereafter received three chants of ‘Daulat Kebawah Duli Tuan Patik’ from the parade followed by a Doa Selamat read by Lieutenant Ariffin bin Amit from the RBAF Religious Department (JA’MAAT). His Majesty once more received the Royal Salute before leaving the parade square.
From the parade square, His Majesty proceeded to the Sungai Akar Officers’ Mess. Here, His Majesty consented to receive a ‘Pesambah’ followed by a ‘junjung ziarah’ from the Officer Cadets with their families. Then His Majesty consented to sign the Book of Journey and the Royal Parchment
Prior to leaving the ceremony, His Majesty also consented to receive the ‘junjung ziarah’ from instructors and officers of the Officer Cadet School. The event then ended with a group photo session.
