PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA, 21 – 22 February 2012 - The ASEAN Defence Senior Officials’ Meeting Working Group (ADSOM WG) was held today at the Sunway Hotel, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Brunei Darussalam was represented by Haji Adi Ihram Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud, Acting Director of Defence Policy, Directorate of Defence Policy, Ministry of Defence.

The Meeting was chaired by Major General Lay Chenda, Director, Department of ASEAN Affairs, General Department of Policy and Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defence, Kingdom of Cambodia.

BERAKAS GARISON, Jumaat 17 Februari 2012 - Majlis Pertandingan Dikir Syarafil Anam peringkat ABDB telah berlangsung buat pertama kalinya diadakan bersempena dengan sambutan maulud Nabi Muhammad SAW bagi tahun 1433H/2012M. Pertandingan ini dianjurkan oleh Jabatan Agama Angkatan Bersejata Diraja Brunei (JAMA’AT).

Tujuan pertandingan ini dianjurkan adalah sebagai kesinambungan kepada sambutan Maulud Nabi SAW pada tahun ini disamping sebagai penerapan serta pendedahan khusus kepada anggota ABDB akan kepentingan Dikir Dikir Syarafil Anam yang lazimnya diadakan bersempena dengan Maulud Nabi Muhammad SAW. Dan menanamkam rasa kecintaan kepada Rasulullah.

Pertandingan pada kali ini dibahagikan kepada dua kategori iaitu Lelaki dan perempuan yang diadakan serentak yang mana pertandingan kategori lelaki diadakan didewan Pahlawan Berakas Garison, manakala Kategori perempuan mengambil tempat di Surau Berakas Garison.

BERAKAS GARRISON, Friday 17 February 2012 – His Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, The Crown Prince, Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and General of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Salleh Ab Rahaman attended a High-Tea reception this afternoon in accordance with his Royal Highness’ 38th Birthday hosted by Officers of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. The ceremony took place at the Officer’s Mess, Berakas Garrison.

LUMUT CAMP, Friday 17 February 2012 - An army personnel of Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) 19644 Private Adi Nur Idzwan bin Yabong working at Third Battalion Royal Brunei Land Force embrace Islam this morning held at the Lumut Camp Surau, Belait.

The event started with the reading of Al-Quran, followed by the recital of Two Kalimah Syahadat. The conversion ceremony was conducted by officer from Belait District Islamic Dakwah Centre.  Private Adi Nur Idzwan bin Yabong had chosen his Islamic name as Nur Idzwan bin Abdullah Yabong.

SINGAPORE, Thursday 16 February 2012 - The Sultan of Brunei, His Majesty Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah of Brunei Darussalam, made a visit to Singapore Airshow 2012 today. Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen received His Majesty, who is also the Defence Minister, at the Changi Exhibition Centre and accompanied him on a tour of the exhibits at the Airshow. Dr Ng also hosted His Majesty to lunch, where they viewed the aerial display. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Defence and National Development Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman and Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Neo Kian Hong were also present at the lunch.

BOLKIAH GARRISON, Thursday 16 February 2012 – The thanksgiving or “Doa Kesyukuran” took place at the Bolkiah Garrison Surau this evening. The ceremony was held by the Ministry of Defence and Royal Brunei Armed Forces to honour the 38th Birthday of His Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, The Crown Prince, Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, General Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).

PHILIPPINES, Friday 9 February 2012 - The opening ceremony for the ASEAN Air Force Plus Exhibit, Open House And The 17th Philippines International Hot Air Balloon Festival was held at Clark Airbase, Pampanga, Republic of the Philippines.

14 personnel from TUDB’s Parachute Airborne Tactical Delivery Unit (PATDU) jumped out of two Philippine Air Force (PAF) helicopters from an altitude of 5000 feet. They carried out a ‘Stack and Pull’ formation while flying in the Brunei flag. They were then followed by their counterparts from the Philippine Navy (PN), Philippine Army (PA), the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
