​MINDEF RECEIVES VISIT FROM MINISTER FOR EDUCATION AND SECOND MINISTER FOR DEFENCE, REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE

BOLKIAH GARRISON, Monday, 6 November 2017 – First Admiral (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, the Deputy Minister of Defence today received an introductory visit this morning from the Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) and Second Minister for Defence of the Republic of Singapore, Mr. Ong Ye Kung. The visit was held at the Ministry of Defence, Bolkiah Garrison.

Upon arrival at the Ministry of Defence, Minister Ong inspected the Guard of Honour mounted by personnel from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).

Welcoming Minister Ong during the introductory visit was Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Commander of RBAF, Captain (Retired) Dato Paduka Abd Rahman bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, RBN, Permanent Secretary, Service Commanders, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, and both military and civilian directors.

Minister Ong was accompanied by His Excellency Mr Lim Hong Huai, Republic of Singapore High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam and Colonel Lee Yong Heng, Singapore Defence Attaché.

During the call, the Deputy Minister reaffirmed the mutually close and special ties between the two defence establishments, which has flourished across a range of extensive interactions. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concerns, and emphasised their continued commitment towards supporting defence initiatives in securing peace and stability in the region.

As part of the visit programme, a working lunch was held for Minister Ong, hosted by First Admiral (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Aziz.

Minister Ong’s visit to the Ministry of Defence of Brunei Darussalam is an extension of his working visit under the 5th Singapore Young Leaders’ Programme (SYLP) as part of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore and Coordinating Minister for National Security of the Republic of Singapore, His Excellency Teo Chee Hean’s delegation.




KEMENTERIAN PERTAHANAN TERIMA LAWATAN MENTERI PENDIDIKAN DAN MENTERI KEDUA PERTAHANAN SINGAPURA

BOLKIAH GARISON, Isnin, 6 November 2017 – Laksamana Pertama (B) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan pada pagi ini, menerima lawatan pengenalan daripada Menteri Pendidikan (Pendidikan Tinggi dan Kemahiran) dan Menteri Kedua Pertahanan Republik Singapura, Tuan Yang Terutama Ong Ye Kung. Lawatan berlangsung di Kementerian Pertahanan, Bolkiah Garison.

Sejurus tiba di Kementerian Pertahanan, Menteri Ong seterusnya memeriksa perbarisan kawalan kehormatan yang terdiri dari anggota daripada Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei.

Mengalu-alukan ketibaan Menteri Ong ialah Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Mejar Jeneral Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Pemerintah ABDB, Kepten (B) Dato Paduka Abd Rahman Bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, TLDB, Setiausaha Tetap, Pemerintah-Pemerintah Angkatan Tentera, Timbalan Setiausaha-Setiausaha Tetap serta Pengarah-Pengarah Tentera dan Awam.

Menteri Ong diiringi oleh Tuan Yang Terutama Lim Hong Huai, Pesuruhjaya Tinggi Republik Singapura ke Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Kolonel Lee Yong Heng, Penasihat Pertahanan Singapura.

Semasa kunjungan tersebut, Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan mengesahkan hubungan persahabatan erat di antara kedua-dua buah institusi pertahanan, yang terus berkembang dalam pelbagai interaksi yang luas. Mereka juga bertukar-tukar pandangan mengenai isu-isu serantau dan antarabangsa, dan menekankan komitmen berterusan ke arah menyokong inisiatif pertahanan dalam menjamin keamanan dan kestabilan di rantau ini.

Semasa lawatan Menteri Ong, satu majlis jamuan makan tengah hari telah diadakan untuk Menteri Ong, yang dianjurkan oleh Laksamana Pertama (B) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Aziz.

Lawatan Menteri Ong adalah lawatan lanjutan kerja beliau di bawah 5th Singapore Young Leaders Programme (SYLP) semasa beliau adalah sebahagian daripada rombongan Timbalan Perdana Menteri Republik Singapura dan Menteri Penyelaras Keselamatan Negara Republik Singapura, Tuan Yang Terutama Teo Chee Hean.
