TWO FOREIGN FISHING TRAWLERS APPREHENDED FOR ILLEGAL FISHING

MUARA, Sunday, 1 October 2017 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) ship KDB DARUSSALAM apprehended another two foreign trawlers conducting illegal fishing activities in Brunei Darussalam’s waters. The first trawler was detected on Saturday night, 30 September 2017 and the second trawler was sighted while sailing back towards the Brunei Bay the next morning.

A total of nineteen (19) foreign fishermen were found onboard the two trawlers. The trawlers and the fishermen were escorted and handed over to the Marine Police Royal Brunei Police Force, in the presence of a representative from the Fisheries Department.

It was not long ago that the KDB DARUSSALAM apprehended a foreign fishing trawler during her routine patrol on 29 September 2017. The apprehension of these vessels should serve as a warning that illegal fishing activities in Brunei waters are taken very seriously by the authorities.




KAPAL NELAYAN ASING DITANGKAP MENGERJAKAN PENANGKAPAN IKAN SECARA HARAM

MUARA, Ahad, 01 Oktober 2017 – Kapal Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei (TLDB) KDB DARUSSALAM, yang dalam rondaan, telah menemui dua lagi kapal nelayan asing sedang menjalankan aktiviti penangkapan ikan secara haram di perairan Negara Brunei Darussalam. Kapal nelayan asing yang pertama ditemui pada hari Sabtu malam, 30 September 2017 manakala kapal nelayan asing yang kedua ditemui semasa KDB DARUSSALAM dalam perjalanan balik menuju ke Telok Brunei keesokkan paginya.

Seramai 19 nelayan asing didapati di dalam dua kapal tersebut. Kapal dan kesemua nelayan asing dibawa balik dan diserahkan kepada Polis Marin Pasukan Polis Diraja Brunei. Turut hadir ialah perwakilan dari Jabatan Perikanan.

KDB DARUSSALAM juga telah menangkap sebuah kapal nelayan asing semasa rondaan rutinnya pada 29 September 2017. Penangkapan kapal-kapal ini diharap akan memberi amaran bahawa aktiviti penangkapan ikan secara haram di perairan Negara Brunei Darussalam dianggap serius oleh pihak berkuasa.
