- OUR MISSION -

 - LIBRARY BACKGROUND -

The creation of a totally new library facility and services at the Defence Minister Office & Directorate of Strategic Planning is a project that began in 1996.

During the first 2 years,  the library was planned, equipped, stocked, catalogued, classified, indexed and computerised. The Library system went live with the launch of the OPACs (Online Public Access Catalogues) and the automated Issues Desk in 1998, although services were in demand as soon as the shelves were put up and there was almost nothing on them yet. Since then there has been a steady increase in use, with new services aimed particularly at those who cannot get to the library in person.

The Library has recently migrated to a new computerised library management system in 2005. The OPACs have been given a web-based environment which is a more user-friendly look and feel.
